Ohio Valley Region
Debbie Barwick
Regional Consultant, Ohio Valley Region
Debbie Bartwick has worked in the
plastic surgery field for 28 years and has a
bachelors degree in health care
administration from Columbia Union
college. She stared her career in plastic
surgery with a physician who was leaving
a group practice to set up a solo one. As
his right hand, Debbie “did it all.” She was
receptionist; did scheduling and
credentialing; financing; bill paying;
ordering; marketing; hiring – everything!
As the physician built satellite offices and
eventually associated with another
physician, Debbie took on more and more
responsibility including hiring and training
other staff members. Her extensive
experience makes her a natural fit for the
Mentor Solutions team.
Debbie feels that Mentor Solutions is a perfect fit for her. “I’m a cheerleader. I find what is good in a practice and I suggest where things can be even better. I love having the opportunity to help others grow professionally because I truly believe that the staff is a practice’s most valuable asset. Build a great staff and you can build a great practice,” Debbie comments.
Debbie believes that often the staff members don’t realize their own potential. “What I bring to the party is a fresh, optimistic look at things. I look at the whole picture and see the potential for creating things that aren’t there yet.”
Debbie is married and has 2 children, 1 grandchild and one on the way. Debbie summed up her philosophy this way: “If a staff wants to make positive changes, they can, and I’m there to help.”
Carissa Hergert
Practice Specialist, Ohio Valley Region
Carissa Hergert joined Mentor Solutions in September of 2007 as a Practice Specialist in the Ohio Valley Region. Even though she is new to the company, she is not new to INFORM&ENHANCE software. In her prior 5-year position as patient coordinator in a plastic surgeon’s office, she became very familiar with the software and learned just how valuable it is in making a practice more efficient and profitable. What Carissa says is so gratifying about her new job is that “INFORM&ENHANCE made my job so much easier when I was a patient coordinator. Now I love customizing the software for each practice as well as training them on the proper use of that software. I know first-hand how much more successful the practice can become because of it. A properly trained staff is a doctor’s best asset.”
Carissa also likes providing ongoing support to practices and helping each staff member understand how important their role is in growing revenue. After all, as Carissa says, “A patient has even more ‘touch points’ with the staff than with the doctor. How a patient feels about the entire practice has a lot to do with how inclined they are to refer that doctor to others.”
Carissa studied communications and public relations at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She now lives in Washington, DC. She loves museums, travel, photography and being fit.
